15 PERFECT JEANS FOR FALL
‘What type of jeans should I be wearing today’? That was the real millennials’ question.
We have to admit that jeans have always been (at least after the ‘70s) a fashionable item that should never miss from our wardrobe. Whether we wear them to feel more comfortable or to obtain an edgier accent to our look, it is most certainly that this fall is important to know what are the jeans you have to have in mind when shopping. So, I believe that this style guide will be of great use for you!
I appreciate the fact that, as from lately, designers (such as Balmain, Isabel Marant, Sara Battaglia, Chloe) have started to incorporate jeans within their RTW collections and to introduce to fashion consumers chic options for their daily looks. Plus, who doesn’t want to have an apparently effortless ensemble and make everyone wonder how was that possible?
1. Play with plaid
Plaid is making its come back in full swing, considering the month of October is forever engraved into our fashion souls as the month of the movie ‘The mean girls’ (and no, I am not trying to make ‘fetch’ happen, LOL). Even though you may be doubtful about the lack of presence of a luxurious touch to your outfit when wearing plaid, I assure you that a white structured shirt paired with plaid jeans and block heeled sandals will turn you into the queen of autumn mix and patterns.
Also, you can wear a plaid, tucked in shirt with plaid patches on your jeans, bringing unity and that unapologetic matchy-matchy factor.
2. Boot cut
The boot cut jeans are virtually perfect for every body type, as they are fitted on the thighs, up until the knees, hugging your curves (or creating curves if you don’t have any), then almost seamlessly continuing with a wider cut, right above the tip of your boots. The difference between a boot cut and flare jeans is that the latter ones will completely cover the boot.
For a sleek style, choose a simple top and a well tailored blazer, or opt for a cashmere sweater with an oversized neckline .
3. Cuffed
From the moment the first golden leaf hit the ground, you must be prepared to have at hand a pair of booties that will be your pièce de résistance for the entire season. And, of course, you would be mad crazy not to show them to the world. After all, no fall was ever great without a good bootie selfie…
So, a pair of cuffed jeans will fit in the picture just right.
4. The mom jeans
Moms usually know best. But ‘is this also the case?’ you may be wondering as you go through endless racks of jeans. Well, considering that the 80’s style is on everybody’s lips (and bodies) these days, you better believe that a pair of mom jeans should be one of the center pieces in your wardrobe.
I would suggest you wear them with Fila Athletic Shoes and a formfitting, rather than light material, sweater. You can also try to experiment with this type of jeans and wear them with a white shirt, a sporty chic small backpack and a high ponytail.
5. Crop. Wide leg crop
You can spice up the entire autumn season if you pair up the wide crop jeans with cowboy boots (the Fendi embossed leather cowboy boots are simply mesmerizing). The cut of the jeans will be just above the ankle, beautifully complementing the boots. To complete your look choose a buttoned up black or denim shirt, a bolo tie and a stockman hat.
6. Regular fit
The classiest type of jeans is the regular fit one. It is also a very versatile type as it offers a lot of different options to choose from when styling them. A good preference would be an oversized hoodie, white sneakers, or a funkier blouse and classic sandals (if the weather is appropriate).
Because the bottom part of the look is classier, you can try out different styles: go full classy with an apparently simple, yet very memorable outfit, by using an elegant black suit jacket, an Alexander McQueen silk shirt, Roger Vivier ‘slingback pumps’ and a BOYY ‘Karl leather shoulder bag’.
7. The boyfriend edit
Of course boyfriends help us with a good amount of things, but did you think that they would save us from a fashion emergency? You can borrow your boyfriend’s pair of jeans and make them look like they are yours to begin with. This type of jeans naturally and perfectly falls onto your hips creating an ‘I just woke up and got out of the house in 5 minutes but still somehow managed to look flawless’ kind of vibe. And who doesn’t want that?
You can style them with an off-the-shoulder t-shirt and some high-top sneakers OR you can dress them up by wearing a pair of precious satin mules/stilettos, a black lace corset and a suit jacket. Oh, believe me! They will talk and let them talk! You own them!
8. Skinny jeans
One of the most wearable types of jeans are the skinny jeans and you can wear them with almost anything, as long as you keep it tasteful. You can also find push-up skinny jeans, giving you a bootylicious aspect.
9. Patchwork
Carefully placed patchwork in areas that complement your body, should definitely give you the right proportions. For example, if you want to add volume to your behind, then you should consider wearing stretchy denim with an appliqué colorful patch on the back pocket of your jeans. If you do not want to draw attention to a certain body area, then avoid using patchwork there.
10. Utility wear
A big trend right now is the utility wear, a trend that found its inspiration from work clothes that are practical, rather than fashionable. If you know of yourself as a more casual style lover, then you will be very trendy, without much of an effort, with an utility denim overall. Mix it up with a pair of large sunnies (that would resemble construction safety glasses) and chunky black boots.
11. Distressed
Distressed jeans can look sort of out of style if you don’t wear them with the right accessories. You can balance out your look by combining them with a longer tulle or satin blouse, even with massive accessories and a pair of boots that are certainly not made for walking ;).
12. Washed out
The Balmain fashion show graced us with a lot of refinement even if there was a lot of denim involved. Washed out jeans can be more than just a boring piece in your collection. Wear them in order to underline an essential piece from your outfit, like for example a sequined blazer or an embroidered lace blouse. You wouldn’t want to pair that ensemble with glittery jeans, so washed out denim is perfect in this instance.
13. Colored denim
If you are a fashion enthusiast, it is most likely that you enjoy incorporating color into your look. And you can also have fun when it comes to your jeans. As we are talking about the perfect pair for fall, you should use some shades that are naturally found in the autumn chromatic, such as: copper, nutmeg, forest green, golden poppy and even red plum.
When wearing colorful jeans, you either have the same shade in the upper part of your attire, or you make everything about the jeans and you wear just a simple, white t-shirt.
14. Denim on denim
You may be tired of seeing this look over and over again, but I feel like this will never go out of style, as it is very fashionable, yet simple. You can add casual pieces and still make it look like you are someone that takes a lot of pride in her appearance. Add on a long leather trench or a massive knitted wool cardigan.
15. Accessories
It is well known the fact that accessories can transform an outfit into a great one or turn it into a full catastrophe from which not even the fairy of Cinderella would be able to pull you out of. Accessories should be placed in consonance with the area to which you wish to draw attention or with the effect you want to diffuse. For example, if you wear a regular fit pair of jeans you can put on glamorous shoes, a structured Dior bag or a tiny Jacquemus bag, because the jeans already have a classic look that sustains an overuse of accessories.
Either way, no matter the style, the most crucial thing is to wear the most suitable pair of jeans for your body proportions and to always combine them with your personality and confidence, because no shoes or outfit will lead you further than your own mentality and spirit!
Until next time,
